My wife and I moved back to Washington State in November of 2019. As is the case with any large move, it took us some time to get our home fully set up. Various furniture lay prone in rooms next to stacked boxes waiting to be placed into their proper places. This was in part due to the fact that my wife ended up in the hospital for nearly forty-one days from complications with her pregnancy.
During the time leading up to her stint in the hospital, she started ripping up the carpet in the main portion of our home. The prior owner had cats, our cat started marking, and on, and on. So, the carpets came up and we launched into remodel mode.
One item that presented a challenge in finding a home was my Peavey 151 guitar amplifier. If you aren’t familiar, it’s a beast of a thing. Heavy on the back when lifting. Needless to say, it ended up in our bedroom closet, blocking the pathway that leads to our bathroom. The ceiling in our closet slants, making it an already awkward area to navigate. Put a behemoth guitar amplifier into the walkway and it makes it more uncomfortable to get to and from during the late hours of the night.
It wasn’t until the summer of 2022 that I simply moved the damn thing. Doing this made me laugh because I couldn’t help but think the following: How many things in life do we deal with simply because they are in the way? How many of those things can we simply move? I am speaking both figuratively and metaphorically here.
Is there anything blocking your way? What things are blocking your way? What things could you simply move aside to make for a better and more comfortable life?
